Introduction
Nassau County high school baseball Standings is a website that covers High School baseball in Nassau County, NY.
How the standings are calculated
Nassau County high school baseball standings are calculated by a formula originally devised by Jerry Magee, a retired San Diego Union-Tribune sports columnist. The formula, modified slightly since its inception, is currently used by The Journal News in Rockland County and LoHud.com in Westchester County.
In short, the formula awards a team 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and no points for a loss. A team gets an extra point for each game it wins by four or more runs (a “run differential” of +4), and loses a point for each game it loses by three or fewer runs (a “run differential” of -3).
