What is a Takeover in NBA 2K21?

The Different Takeovers in NBA 2K21

In NBA 2K21, there are five different Takeovers you can choose from. You can either be a Playmaker, a Sharpshooter, a Slasher, a Post Scorer, or a Rebounder/Defender. Each Takeover has its own unique set of animations and abilities that will help you take over the game. The question is, can you change your Takeover in NBA 2K21?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Once you have chosen your Takeover, you cannot change it. This is likely because each Takeover requires you to have different badges and attributes in order to be successful. For example, if you want to be a successfulPlaymaker, you need to have high Passing and Ball Handling attribute ratings. If you want to be a successful Rebounder/Defender ,you need high Rebounding and Defensive attribute ratings. As such, it would not make sense for you to be able to change your Takeover mid-game as it would give players an unfair advantage.

How to Change Your Takeover in NBA 2K21

In NBA 2K21, players have the ability to choose a “Takeover” for their MyPlayer. Takeovers provide boosts to players that correspond with their strengths on the court. If you’re not happy with the Takeover you’ve chosen for your MyPlayer, or if you simply want to try out a different one, you can change it at any time. Here’s how:

1. Select “MyPLAYER” from the main menu
2. Select “Attributes” from the MyPLAYER submenu.
3. Scroll down to “Takeover” and press X/A to change your Takeover.
4. Choose from one of the available Takeovers and press X/A to confirm your selection.

Why Would You Want to Change Your Takeover in NBA 2K21?

What Happens if You Change Your Takeover in NBA 2K21?

You can change your Takeover in NBA 2K21 at any time, but there are some things you should know before you do.

For starters, your Takeover is determined by your MyPLAYER Archetype. You can change your Archetype at any time, but it will affect your Takeover. For example, if you’re a Playmaker and you change to a Shot Creator, your Takeover will change from ‘Dribble God’ to ‘ buckets’.

Secondly, if you have multiple players in NBA 2K21 (MyCAREER, MyTEAM, etc.), each one will have their own Takeover. So if you want all of your players to have the same Takeover, you’ll need to make sure they’re all the same Archetype.

Lastly, changing your Takeover will not reset your progress towards unlocking it. So if you’ve already unlocked the ‘Dribble God’ Takeover for your Playmaker, changing to a Shot Creator won’t undo that progress.
