The NBA’s I-Team: Investigating the League’s Biggest Issues – Part 4

The NBA’s I-Team continues its look at the league’s biggest issues with a focus on player safety in Part 4 of our series.

As the NBA looks to maintain its status as the world’s Premier Basketball league, player safety has become a top priority in recent years In an effort to protect its investment in its players, the league has instituted a number of measures aimed at reducing the risk of injury.

One of the most important safety initiatives has been the introduction of concussion protocol All players are now required to undergo a baseline concussion test before the start of the season, and any player who is suspected of suffering a concussion must be evaluated by a team doctor before returning to action.

The protocol has been credited with helping to reduce the number of concussions suffered by NBA players but some have criticized it for being too restrictive and preventing players from competing at their highest level

As the NBA continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how player safety initiatives are affected. Will the league continue to tighten its rules in an effort to further reduce injuries, or will it loosen them up to allow more freedom for its stars? Only time will tell.

The NBA’s I-Team: Investigating the League’s Biggest Issues – Part 6

Welcome to the sixth part of our series, “The NBA’s I-Team: Investigating the League’s Biggest Issues.” In this installment, we’ll be taking a look at the recent trend of teams “tanking” in order to improve their chances of obtaining a high draft pick

As any NBA fan knows, the draft is a crucial part of building a successful team. If a team can draft a star player it can change the franchise’s fortunes for years to come. As such, there is a lot of pressure on teams to get it right on draft night.

Unfortunately, the draft is also a crapshoot. Even the most talented players can bust, and there is no guarantee that a highly touted prospect will turn into an All-Star. This has led some teams to deliberately lose games in order to increase their odds of getting a top pick. This practice is known as “tanking.”

Tanking has become increasingly common in recent years as teams have become more sophisticated in their understanding of the draft process. In some cases, tanking can be difficult to detect, as teams may downplay their own expectations in order to trick opponents into underestimating them.

In other cases, tanking is more overt, with teams openly admitting that they are trying to lose games. This was the case with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2015-16 season, when they finished with a record of 10-72. The Sixers were clear about their tanking strategy; they even gave away free shirts that said “Tank for Embiid” (referring to then-prospect Joel Embiid).

Not everyone is a fan of tanking. Some argue that it goes against the competitive spirit of sports and gives an unfair advantage to teams that are willing to lose games on purpose. Others believe that tanking damages the reputation of the NBA and turns off fans who want to see competitive basketball

What do you think? Is tanking bad for the NBA? Or is it simply part of savvy team-building? Let us know in the comments!

The NBA’s I-Team: Investigating the League’s Biggest Issues – Part 8

The NBA’s I-Team is back to investigate the league’s biggest issues. In this edition, we take a look at the recent surge in player ejections.

Since the start of the 2017-18 Season there have been 22 player ejections in the NBA. That’s more than double the number of ejections during the same timeframe last season.

There are a number of factors that could be contributing to this increase. First, the league has implemented a stricter enforcement of its rules on players arguing with referees. Second, players are now being held accountable for their actions on the court with respect to taunting and fighting. Finally, there is a growing sense of frustration among players over officiating calls.

whatever the reason, this trend is one that needs to be addressed by the league. With so many players being ejected from games, it’s impacting the quality of play and fan experience. The NBA needs to find a way to curb this problem before it gets out of control.
