Born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden in Baton Rouge Louisiana, NBA Youngboy had a difficult childhood. His father was killed when he was just three years old, and his mother was unable to care for him properly. As a result, he spent much of his childhood living with his grandparents. However, when he was just eight years old, his grandfather was also killed.
With no positive male role models in his life, NBA Youngboy turned to the streets. He quickly became involved in crime and violence, and by the time he was a teenager, he had already been arrested several times. However, it was around this time that he discovered his talent for rap music.

In 2016, NBA Youngboy released his second mixtape, titled Mind of a Menace 3: Trapped In Childhood Dreams. The mixtape proved to be even more successful than its predecessor, and cemented NBA Youngboy’s place as one of the hottest young rappers in the game.

She was released on parole in December 2018.
In March 2019, while Nba Youngboy was on House Arrest in Atlanta, Georgia, he was AR-rested for assaulting his girlfriend Jania Jackson. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of kidnapping. The two had an argument that turned physical and Jackson sustained injuries to her head and body.
In May 2019, the charges against NBA Youngboy were dismissed after the victim chose not to cooperate with prosecution.

In March 2018, he was arrested again on charges of assault and kidnapping after an altercation with his girlfriend Jania Jackson. Youngboy allegedly beat Jackson and forced her into a car against her will. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 10 years probation.
