Contents
The NFL playoffs for the 2021 season are finally here! After 17 weeks of regular season action, the field has been whittled down to just four teams. Who will be playing in this year’s big game?
AFC
The Pittsburgh Steelers have clinched the AFC North division title and a spot in the playoffs. The Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens are also in the playoffs. The Indianapolis Colts clinched the final AFC wild card spot.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ravens compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The team plays its home games at M&T Bank Stadium and is headquartered in Owings Mills.
Buffalo Bills
AFC Wild Card: The Bills are currently the No. 6 seed in the AFC, but they could move up to the No. 5 spot with a win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 17. They’ll secure a playoff berth with a victory, but if they lose and the Ravens beat the Bengals, Baltimore will snatch the final spot away from Buffalo.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the AFL. In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, and assumed its current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.
NFC
The 4 teams in the NFC playoffs for the 2022 season are the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Green Bay Packers. All four teams have been very successful in the regular season and are looking to continue their success in the playoffs.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team in the National Football League (NFL). They are members of the NFC East division. The team plays its home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that competes in the National Football League (NFL). The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League (AFL) before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to St. Louis. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016.
The Rams organization has won three NFL championships, and is the only one to win championships representing three cities (Cleveland, Los Angeles, and St. Louis). The Rams have been captives of two other NFL franchises twice during their time in St. Louis; first when they were part of a failed 1960 experiment called the Continental League, and again 20 years later as part of an ill-fated 1995 relocation attempt by then-owner Georgia Frontiere. Super Bowl XXXVIII, played following the 2002 season, marked their lone Super Bowl appearance while representing St. Louis.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference South division. The team was founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The Saints began play in Tulane Stadium in 1967.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are a professional American football team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Eagles compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are slated to play their home games at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia for the 2021 season.
The Eagles have played their home games at Lincoln Financial Field since 2003. In 2021, they will return to playing two home games each season at Lincoln Financial Field, and one at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, as part of a four-year agreement with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team has an intense rivalry with the New York Giants. This rivalry is the oldest in the NFC East and is among the oldest in the NFL.
