The Jersey
The jersey is the most important part of the baseball uniform. It must be comfortable and able to stretch so the player can move freely. It also needs to be breathable so the player does not get too hot while running around the bases or playing in the field. The material that is most commonly used for baseball jerseys is a polyester blend. This type of fabric is lightweight and able to wick away sweat from the player’s skin.
The Pants
Baseball pants are typically made of a polyester and cotton blend, which helps to wick away moisture and keep the wearer cool and comfortable. The pants also usually have a layer of padding in the hips and knees to help protect the player from impact.
The Hat
The most iconic piece of a baseball uniform is the baseball cap. All Major League Baseball teams wear some form of a cap with their uniform, and most Minor League, college and recreational teams do as well. The hats worn in Major League Baseball are specifically designed for the sport and are not sold to the general public. The brim of a Major League baseball cap is always curved and is generally between 2.5 and 3 inches wide. The back of the cap is adjustable, so it can be fitted to any head size. Most caps have either six or seven panels, with each panel sewn to the hat’s crown front.
The Socks
The socks are made of a stretchy material that allows them to hug the calf without restricting movement. They usually come in team colors and have the team logo on the front.
The Cleats
The vast majority of today’s baseball cleats are made from synthetic materials, such as polyurethane. However, some players prefer the look and feel of leather, so a small number of companies still make leather baseball cleats. The metal spikes on the bottom of the cleat are usually made from stainless steel.
