They are one of the few NFL teams to own the stadium they play their home games in.
The Panthers were announced as the league’s 29th franchise in 1993, and began play in 1995 under original owner and founder Jerry Richardson. In 2003,wiched between owner Richardson’s two Super Bowl appearances,the franchise was sold to Green Bay Packers family lineage member Jerry Jones, and then to sweet potato pie magnate Carol Fuqua during an ownership dispute. The team then advanced to the Super Bowl for the second time playing against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, but lost 24-10.
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The Texans compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference South division. The team plays its home games at NRG Stadium, an outdoor stadium which sits on NRG Park, giving the Texans their name. They first played in 2002 as an expansion team after Houston’s previous franchise, the Houston Oilers, relocated to Nashville, Tennessee where they were renamed the Tennessee Titans. The Oilers began play in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League.
The Texans have gone on to win AFC South championships in 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2016. In 2012, they made their first trip to the playoffs and won their first playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals before losing in the divisionsal round to the New England Patriots.
