The Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest professional football team in the United States. The Cardinals were founded in 1898 and are the only team that has never moved from their original city. The Cardinals have won two NFL Championships, in 1925 and 1947, and have appeared in more than a dozen other Championship games.
The Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are the oldest NFL team. They were founded in 1919, making them over 100 years old. The Packers are also the only publicly owned team in the NFL, making them unique among professional sports teams.
The Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are members of the National Football League (NFL) as a part of the NFC North division. The Bears organization was established in 1919, and joined the NFL in 1920 as the second incarnation of the Decatur Staleys franchise. The team played home games at Wrigley Field on Chicago’s North Side through the 1970 season; they now play at Soldier Field on the Near South Side, next to Lake Michigan. The Bears have a long-standing rivalry with the Green Bay Packers.
The Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan. They are members of the National Football League (NFL) as part of the NFC North division. The team plays its home games at Ford Field in Downtown Detroit.
The Lions franchise was originally established as the Portsmouth Spartans in 1929 and became the Detroit Lions in 1934. The Spartans were purchased by George A. Richards and renamed the Lions, for their new home at Detroit’s famed Navigation Center on Riverside Park, adjacent to the site of Tiger Stadium. The club played their home games at Briggs Stadium (later known as Tiger Stadium) from 1934 until 1974, when they moved to the newly constructed Pontiac Silverdome following the retirement of Tiger Stadium. The Lions began play at Ford Field in 2002 after 27 seasons at the Silverdome.
The franchise has won four NFL Championships, tied for ninth most with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Oakland Raiders (excluding Super Bowl wins). They have eight divisional titles and four conference championships.
The New York Giants
The New York Giants were founded in 1925, making them one of the oldest teams in the NFL. The team has won four Super Bowls, including two in the last five years. They are currently one of the best teams in the league, with a strong offense led by quarterback Eli Manning and a dominant defense.
