The American Football Conference (AFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world. AFC teams are split evenly between the two geographical regions of the United States, with eight teams located in the East and eight teams located in the West. The AFC is by far the older of the two conferences, as all but two of its teams were members of the AFL prior to 1970.
