Generally, the Eastern Conference All-Stars team features 11 players selected by fan balloting and 1 player chosen by the NBA head coaches (since 2016). The Western Conference All-Stars team features 11 players selected by fan balloting and 1 player chosen by the NBA head coaches (since 2016).
The starters are chosen by fans through online or SMS voting, while the bench players are chosen by sports writers and broadcasters. Fans may vote online or on mobile devices via SMS ballots; one ballot per player per day.
