NHL Playoffs
The NHL Playoffs are just around the corner and everyone is wondering what channel they will be on. NBC has the rights to air the playoffs this year. However, there are a few other ways to watch the playoffs if you don’t have cable.
NBC
The National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs are an elimination tournament annually contested by the top eight teams in the league following the NHL regular season. The Stanley Cup, awarded to the playoff champion at the end of the Final, is commonly considered to be one of the most prestigious professional sports trophies in North America and one of hockey’s greatest championships.
The NHL playoffs, unlike those of other major professional leagues in North America (such as Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association), traditionally have not been televised nationally in their entirety. When network television broadcasts of Stanley Cup playoff games began on a regular basis in the United States during the early 1960s, they were typically limited to one or two games per series, featuring whichever teams happened to be playing at Madison Square Garden in New York City (which also served as host to most playoff games during that era).
CBC
The CBC will be broadcasting the NHL playoffs this year. The schedule is as follows:
-First Round: April 11-17
-Second Round: April 18-24
-Conference Finals: April 25-May 1
-Stanley Cup Final: May 2-8
ESPN
ESPN will be televising the NHL Playoffs this year. The network will be carrying all of the games in the first and second rounds, as well as the Conference Finals. The Stanley Cup Final will be split between ESPN and NBC.
