The NBA Finals is the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Eastern and Western conference champions play a best-of-seven game series to determine the league champion. The team holding an advantage in the series is said to hold the “home court advantage”.

The NBA Finals has been played every year since 1947, and originally between the winners of the Eastern and Western conferences. Since 1984, when the NBA adopted a format in which the conference champions receive automatic berths, the Finals has featured eight teams, with two from each conference.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors

The 2018 NBA Finals will begin on Thursday, May 31, with Game 1 at the Golden State Warriors’ home court, the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The Warriors are the two-time defending NBA champions, having won the title in 2015 and 2017. They will be looking to become the first team since the 1999-2000 Los Angeles Lakers to win three consecutive NBA titles. The Cavaliers are making their fourth straight appearance in the NBA Finals. They won the championship in 2016, but lost to the Warriors in 2015 and 2017.
