Layla’s retirement

Layla retired from WWE on July 29, 2015, citing injuries she had sustained during her wrestling career. Layla was a two-time WWE Women’s Champion and a one-time WWE Divas Champion. She is also a former two-time WWEWomen’s Tag Team Champion, with her second reign being the longest in the title’s history at 179 days.

Her final match

Layla announced her retirement from in-ring competition on July 2, 2015, due to a recurring knee injury which had been aggravated in a tag team match on the May 26 episode of RAW. On the November 16 episode of RAW, Layla made her final WWE appearance, losing to Brie Bella in what was billed as her “retirement match”.

Layla has since transitioned into a new role with WWE as a producer.

Her current WWE status

As of right now, it is unknown what happened to Layla WWE as she has not been seen on WWE television in over a year. The last time she was seen was on the July 4, 2016 episode of RAW when she was a part of a 24/7 title scramble. She lost the title to R-Truth and has not been seen since.

There has been no official word from WWE on her status, but it is presumed that she has either retired or been released from her contract.
