Introduction
Oscar Gutiérrez, better known by his ring name Rey Mysterio, is a Mexican-American professional wrestler who is currently signed to WWE on the SmackDown brand. Rey Mysterio’s in-ring career has been hampered by injuries in recent years, and he has wrestled only sporadically since 2015. So what happened to Oscar from WWE?
It was reported in early 2018 that Mysterio had suffered another injury, this time to his knee. The injury was said to be serious, and Mysterio underwent surgery in February 2018. He has not wrestled since then, and his future with WWE is unclear.
As of right now, it appears that Rey Mysterio’s days as an active in-ring competitor are over. That being said, he remains a popular figure with WWE fans and is still under contract with the company. It’s possible that he could return in a non-wrestling role at some point in the future.

In addition to wrestling, Oscar has also ventured into the world of mixed martial arts. He made his MMA debut in December of 2008, losing to Dan Molina via submission. His second fight was scheduled for June 2009 against Ron waterman, but it was cancelled due to Waterman testing positive for steroids.

Oscar González, better known by his ring name Óscar Gutiérrez (born December 11, 1974), is a Mexican-American professional wrestler and actor. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand under the ring name Rey Mysterio.
Gutiérrez was trained by his uncle Rey Misterio, Sr. making his professional wrestling debut in 1989. He wrestled in Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) from 1992 to 1996 and in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) from 1996 to 2001. In WCW, Gutiérrez became Cruiserweight Champion five times and held the WCW World Tag Team Championship three times (with Billy Kidman as part of The Filthy Animals). After WCW was purchased by Vince McMahon and absorbed into WWE in 2001, Mysterio signed with WWE and won the WWE Tag Team Championship twice (with Edge as part of The Rated-R Entourage and Eddie Guerrero as part of Los Guerreros) as well as the 2006 Royal Rumble.

His father, Rey Misterio Sr., introduced him to wrestling when he was just eight years old.
In March 2015, Mysterio left WWE due to backstage disagreements with Vince McMahon and creative differences. In December 2015, it was reported that Mysterio had signed a three-year deal with Lucha Underground. His debut match took place on January 27, 2016, at Lucha Underground’s first live event. In October 2018, Rey Mysterio signed a new two-year contract with WWE.
In 2019, Rey Mysterio recaptured the WWE United States Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura at Extreme Rules in a tables match. On the November 4 episode of SmackDown, Rey Mysterio defeated Brock Lesnar to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, making him the first luchador to win the title.
