Rollins turns on The Shield
On June 2, 2014, at the WWE Payback pay-per-view, Rollins turned on The Shield and joined The Authority (Triple H and Stephanie McMahon), effectively becoming a heel in the process. The following night on Raw, Rollins explained his reasoning for turning on The Shield, saying that he was never the team’s weak link and that he was holding them back. He also proclaimed that he was “The Man” in WWE. This new attitude led to a change in Rollins’ look and character; gone were his long tights and “shield-like” ring attire, replaced by trunks with an Authority logo on the backside, as well as shin guards adorned with spikes.
Rollins’ injury
On Monday Night Raw, Rollins was scheduled to compete in a tag team match with his partner Murphy against The Miz and John Morrison. The match never happened as Rollins was injured during his entrance.
Rollins tears his ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus
In November 2015, Rollins injured his right knee when he was thrown into the barriers by Kane on an episode of Raw. The following day, it was revealed that he had torn his ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus, and would require surgery, sidelining him for six to nine months.
Rollins’ return
Seth Rollins returned to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble, and fans were overjoyed to see The Architect back in a WWE ring. Rollins had been out of action since November 2019, when he suffered a gruesome injury at the hands of Samoa Joe.
Rollins returns at Survivor Series
Seth Rollins returned to WWE at Survivor Series, turning on The Shield and helping Evolution win the main event.
Rollins had been out of action since early November, when he injured his knee at a live event in Dublin, Ireland. Prior to his injury, Rollins was riding a wave of momentum, having recaptured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Brock Lesnar at Hell in a Cell.
Rollins’ return came as a surprise to many, as it was originally believed that he would not be able to return until early next year. However, it appears that Rollins made a speedy recovery and was able to return in time for Survivor Series.
It is unknown what the future holds for Rollins now that he has aligned himself with Evolution. However, one has to imagine that he will be in line for a push upon his return to television. Only time will tell what the future holds for Seth Rollins.
