The Future of Gamecock Baseball

The South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team is one of the most successful programs in the country. They have won five national championships and have made the NCAA tournament thirty-seven times. The team has also produced Twenty-six All-Americans, sixty-nine Major League Baseball draft picks, and twelve first-round draft picks. Despite all of this success, the Gamecocks have never won a College World Series. This year’s team is looking to change that.

The Gamecocks are currently ranked number two in the country and are expected to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. The team is led by junior catcher/outfielder Ethan Allen and senior pitcher Thomas Hatch. Allen is batting .360 with thirteen home runs and fifty-three RBIs. Hatch is eleven and two on the season with a 2.48 ERA. The Gamecocks also have a talented group of freshmen who have contributed to the team’s success this season.

The future looks bright for the Gamecocks baseball program. With another talented group of young players coming up through the ranks, they should be in contention for a national championship for years to come.
