The Rules of WWE Extreme Rules

WWE Extreme Rules is a professional wrestling event produced annually by WWE, a Connecticut–based professional wrestling promotion. The name of the event stems from most matches taking place under hardcore wrestling regulations; Extreme Rules matches are fought under no disqualifications. The first event was held on June 7, 2009 as a direct response to ECW’s One Night Stand pay-per-view (PPV) and mimicked the structure and rules of that promotion. WWE released the name of the event as “Extreme Expose”, which was intended to be a pun off of ECW’s weekly show Hardcore TV. However, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon revealed on the June 3 edition of Raw that the real name for the PPV would be Extreme Rules
From 2010 onwards, Extreme Rules has been promoted as WWE’s annual SummerSlam warm-up show, with several main eventers from SummerSlam appearing on Extreme Rules card. The event has also been used to start or end various feuds and storylines. On January 11, 2017, WWE announced that Extreme Rules would return as aRaw exclusive event

The History of WWE Extreme Rules

WWE Extreme Rules is a yearly professional wrestling event produced by WWE. It is generally considered one of WWE’s “Big Five” pay-per-view events, along with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series.

The first Extreme Rules event was held in June 2009. It replaced the previously held Backlash PPV. The event was established as a direct result of the success of WrestleMania 25 the previous year. The success of that event prompted WWE to create another ” flagship” PPV in an attempt to replicate that success.

The concept of Extreme Rules is that the matches held during the event are fought under hardcore rules, thus making them more extreme than a typical WWE match. These type of matches include Steel Cage Matches, Ladder Matches, Chair Matches, and others.

Throughout its history, Extreme Rules has been held in various venues across the United States. The first five events were all held on the East Coast, with three events taking place in New Jersey and two in Pennsylvania. In 2014, the event made its West Coast debut by being held in California. Since then, it has alternated between East and West Coast venues.

The Matches at WWE Extreme Rules

WWE Extreme Rules is a pro wrestling pay-per-view event produced by WWE. It is generally held in the month of July. The name of the event is a reference to its rules being more extreme than usual, such as Last Man Standing and Steel Cage matches.

The concept of the show originally began as a hardcore-themed pay-per-view in June 1999. It has since evolved into a annual PPV event featuring multiple extreme stipulation matches.

The card for Extreme Rules often includes both Raw and SmackDown wrestlers, as the event is considered one of the “Big Four” PPVs, along with WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series.

The Results of WWE Extreme Rules

The Results of WWE Extreme Rules were largely positive, with many fans and critics alike praising the event for its violence and match quality. Overall, WWE Extreme Rules was considered to be a success, and set the stage for upcoming events such as SummerSlam and Survivor Series.
