What NBA Team Has No Rings?
Contents
We all know that the NBA is a league full of teams with rich histories. But which team has never won a championship?
The teams
There are currently three NBA teams who have never won a championship title, and they are the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Charlotte Hornets, and the New Orleans Pelicans.
Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League. The franchise began with the 1947 purchase of a disbanded team, the Detroit Gems of the National Basketball League (NBL). The new team began playing in Minneapolis, calling themselves the Minneapolis Lakers in honor of Minnesota’s nickname, “Land of 10,000 Lakes”. Initially a member of the NBL, the Lakers won their first NBA championship in 1949 after joining that league following its absorption of the NBL during merging and renaming process. They repeated as champions in 1950 and retained through 1954 with teams that featured Hall of Famers George Mikan, Jean Kluszewski and Clyde Lovellette.
Celtics
The Boston Celtics have a long and storied history, dating back to 1946. The team has won a total of 17 NBA championships, the most of any team in the league. However, the Celtics have not won a championship since 2008, which is the longest drought of any team in the league.
76ers
The 76ers, also known as the Sixers, are an American professional basketball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division and play at Wells Fargo Center. Founded in 1946 and originally known as the Syracuse Nationals, they are one of the oldest franchises in the NBA, and one of only eight (out of 23) to survive the league’s first decade.
The Sixers have had a rich history, with many of the greats in NBA history having played for the organization, including Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson. They have been a part of many of the NBA’s greatest moments, including Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game, Julius Erving’s upset of the then-reigning two-time champion Los Angeles Lakers in the 1981 NBA Finals, and Allen Iverson’s iconic “Step Over” against Tyronn Lue in 2001. However, despite their storied history, they have never won an NBA championship.
The players
Even though they never won an NBA title, the Charlotte Hornets have had some great players suit up for the team. The likes of Alonzo Mourning, Glen Rice, Larry Johnson, and Muggsy Bogues have all donned the teal and purple. The team has come close to winning a title on a few occasions, but they have ultimately fallen short.
Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bean Bryant was an American professional basketball player. A shooting guard, he spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He entered the league directly from high school, and won five NBA championships with the Lakers. Bryant is an 18-time All-Star, 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, and 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team. He led the NBA in scoring during two seasons, and ranks third on both the league’s all-time regular season scoring and all-time postseason scoring lists.
LeBron James
LeBron James is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is widely considered to be one of the greatest players in NBA history. James has won four NBA championships, four NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, two Olympic gold medals, an NBA Finals MVP Award, and he is the all-time leader in points scored in the NBA Playoffs.
Dirk Nowitzki
Dirk Nowitzki (born June 19, 1978) is a German former professional basketball player. An alumnus of the University of Kansas, Nowitzki was selected as the ninth pick in the 1998 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he played his entire 21-season career. The fans
We love our team whether they are winning or losing. We stand by them through every tough season. We love our players whether they are All-Stars or scrubs. However, there is one thing that we fans can’t stand…
Lakers fans
Lakers fans are some of the most diehard in the NBA. They’ve seen their team win an astonishing 16 championships, the most of any team in the league. But even with all those titles, there’s still one thing that Lakers fans haven’t seen their team do: win a championship without Kobe Bryant.
Since Kobe’s retirement in 2016, the Lakers have failed to make the playoffs. In fact, they’ve been one of the worst teams in the league. But despite all of that, Lakers fans remain loyal to their team. They continue to fill up Staples Center year after year, hoping to see their team return to glory.
And while it may take some time for that to happen, there’s no doubt that Lakers fans will be there cheering on their team every step of the way.
Celtics fans
Celtics fans are among the most vocal and passionate in the NBA. They are known for their unwavering support of their team, even during the most challenging times. Celtics fans love to show their team pride through clothing, hats, and other paraphernalia. They are also known for being some of the most knowledgeable fans in the league, and they are always ready to debate any topic related to their team.
76ers fans
There’s no question that Sixers fans have been through a lot over the last few years. The team has gone through some tough times, and the fans have stuck by them through thick and thin. Unfortunately, the Sixers have yet to win an NBA Championship, and their fans are still waiting for that elusive first ring.
