Chicago Bulls (1984-1993, 1995-1998)

Michael Jordan was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the third overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. He quickly became one of the league’s best players, winning Rookie of the Year honors. In 1986, Jordan was part of a Bulls team that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. The following year, Jordan won his first MVP award and led the Bulls to their first NBA Championship. He would go on to win five more MVPs and six more NBA titles with the Bulls. Jordan retired from basketball in 1999, but returned to the league in 2001 as a member of the Washington Wizards.

Washington Wizards (2001-2003)

Michael Jordan’s final two NBA seasons were spent with the Washington Wizards, the team he owned. After a 3-year hiatus from basketball, Jordan came back to the NBA as a player-owner for the Washington Wizards in 2001. He played two seasons with the team before retiring for good in 2003.

Jordan played three seasons for Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. As a freshman, he was a member of the school’s junior varsity team. The following season, he averaged a triple-double of 20.9 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists and was named to The Associated Press North Carolina High School Basketball Player of the Year after leading Laney to a 27–3 record and 4A state championship game appearance. As a sophomore, he again helped lead Laney to a 28–5 record and appearance in the state semi-finals. In Jordan’s junior year, he averaged a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds while leading Laney to a 26–6 record and 3A state championship game appearance. In his senior year, Jordan led Laney to a perfect 30–0 record en route to their second straight 4A state title and third overall state title; he had 27 points in their 79–64 win over Fayetteville Douglas Byrd in the championship game.
