NFL Preseason Games
It’s that time of year again where football fans get to see their favorite teams back in action. The NFL preseason is underway and there are some great games to watch tonight. Let’s take a look at what NFL preseason games are on tonight.
Preseason game schedule
The National Football League (NFL) preseason is the period each year during which NFL teams play several not-for-the-record exhibition games before the regular season. Beginning with the featured Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in early August, five weekends of preseason games are currently played in August and September (with one game typically being played on Thursday night, another on Friday night, and three more on Saturdays).
The NFL preseason generally opens with most teams playing four preseason games. While no outcome or individual performance in these contests count towards regular season or playoff standings, some coaches use them as opportunities to evaluate their reserve players and give young hopefuls a chance to show what they can do on the field.

NFL Preseason Standings
The NFL preseason is underway and there are some great games on tap for tonight. Here’s a look at the standings so far and what we can expect from the rest of the preseason.
Preseason standings by division
In the NFL, all 32 teams play four preseason games. The goal of the preseason is to get ready for the regular season, which starts in September. During the preseason, players compete for starting spots on their team’s roster. Some players will be cut (released) from their team during the preseason.
The NFL preseason standings are determined by each team’s win-loss record. Ties are not broken in the preseason standings. The NFL does not use a playoff system to determine who wins its preseason title; rather, the team with the best win-loss record is considered the champion.
The four divisions in the NFL are:
-AFC East: New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets
-AFC North: Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers
-AFC South: Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans
-AFC West: Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers
-NFC East: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins
-NFC North: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers
How the preseason standings are determined
The NFL preseason standings are determined by a number of factors, including won-loss record, strength of schedule, and head-to-head competition. In general, the preseason standings are used to seed teams for the playoffs and to determine home-field advantage for the regular season. However, the preseason standings can also be used to help decide which teams qualify for the playoffs and which teams receive bye weeks.
