Newton was selected as the first overall pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL Draft. He became the Panthers’ starting quarterback in his rookie season, and helped the team achieve a 13–3 regular season record. In 2015, Newton was named the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) after leading the Panthers to a 15–1 regular season record and a berth in Super Bowl 50.
Won the NFL Rookie of the Year Award
In his first season with the Panthers, Newton broke all-time NFL rookie records for passing and rushing yards. He became the first NFL quarterback to throw for 400 yards in his debut, and the first rookie quarterback to run for 125 yards in a game. He was named the NFL Rookie of the Year.
Named to the Pro Bowl
Carolina Panther’s quarterback Cam Newton was named to the Pro Bowl in 2011, 2012, and 2015. He became the first player in NFL history to be named Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season. In 2015, he was named AP Offensive Player of the Year.
