The NFL Playoffs
The National Football League playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the end of the regular season to determine the NFL champion. Seven teams from each of the league’s two conferences qualify for the playoffs. A tie-breaking procedure exists if required.
How the NFL Playoffs Work
In order to make it to the playoffs, NFL teams have to earn their place by finishing the regular season with a winning record. The number of teams that make it to the playoffs varies from year to year, but it is typically around 12 teams.
During the playoffs, the teams that made it play against each other in a single elimination tournament. The team that wins each game advances to the next round until there is only one team left standing. That team is declared the winner of the playoffs and they are given the prestigious Lombardi Trophy.
Who Made It To The Playoffs?
The NFL playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the regular season to determine the NFL champion. Teams that did not make the playoffs are seeded 1 through 5 based on their regular-season record, with the 4 division winners guaranteed a playoff spot and seeded 1 through 4 in order of their record. The top two seeds receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs, while the other four teams compete in wild-card games. Wild-card weekend sees three wild-card teams visit each of the top two seeds, while one wild-card team is idle. The AFC Playoffs
The Baltimore Ravens have clinched the AFC North divisional title and have been awarded the number four seed in the AFC playoffs. They will be playing the number five seed Los Angeles Chargers in the wildcard round. The Ravens are led by their strong defense, which is ranked number one in the NFL.
The AFC Playoff Picture
With the end of the regular season comes the playoff picture, and this year the AFC is looking strong. The New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Kansas City Chiefs have all clinched their spots, with the final spot up for grabs between the Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers, and Baltimore Ravens.
The Patriots are looking like they’re in good shape to make a run at another Super Bowl appearance, as they have one of the easiest paths to the AFC Championship game. They’ll most likely face off against either the Jaguars or the Chiefs in the Divisional Round, and then potentially the Steelers in the Conference Championship. But with quarterback Tom Brady leading the way, anything is possible for this team.
The Jaguars have been one of the biggest surprise teams this season, as they went from being a laughingstock to one of the best teams in football. Led by their stellar defense, they could cause some problems for teams in the playoffs. They’ll be a tough out for whoever has to play them.
The Chiefs started off slow but turned it on towards the end of the season and clinched the AFC West title. They have a very tough road ahead of them if they want to make it to the Super Bowl, as they could potentially have to play all three of the other division winners in consecutive weeks. But with quarterback Alex Smith playing at an MVP level, they could be a team to watch out for.
The Steelers are always a threat in the playoffs, and this year is no different. With one of the best offenses in football, led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Antonio Brown, they’re always a dangerous team. They’ll most likely face off against either the Titans or Ravens in the Wild Card round.
The final spot in the AFC playoffs is still up for grabs between three teams: The Titans, Chargers, and Ravens. The Titans currently hold onto that spot but their grip is tenuous at best. They’ll need some help from other teams if they want to stay in that spot come Week 17. The Chargers are right behind them and could take that spot if they win out and get some help from other teams. The AFC Wild Card Teams
The American Football Conference (AFC) playoff teams are the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Buffalo Bills, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Baltimore Ravens.
The Jaguars defeated the Bills 10-3 in the AFC Wild Card game. The Chargers defeated the Ravens 23-17 in the AFC Wild Card game.
The Jaguars will play the Steelers in the AFC Divisional Round, and the Chargers will play the Patriots in the AFC Divisional Round.
The AFC Divisional Round
The American Football Conference (AFC) Divisional Playoffs are set, after an exciting Wild Card Round that saw all four road teams coming out on top.
The Baltimore Ravens will take on the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo, while the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Cleveland Browns. In the AFC’s nightcap, the Tennessee Titans will be in New England to play the Patriots.
On the other side of the conference, the Seattle Seahawks will travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers. The NFC’s second game of the day will feature a matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers.

The AFC Championship Game is the annual championship game of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL). The game features the two highest-seeded teams in the AFC playoffs. The winner of this game earns the right to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, the biggest game in professional American football.
The NFC Playoffs
There are four teams remaining in the NFC playoffs. The Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, and Dallas Cowboys. All four teams have a chance to make it to the NFC Championship game and possibly the Super Bowl.
The NFC Playoff Picture
The National Football Conference (NFC) playoff picture is set. The Seattle Seahawks won the NFC West, the Green Bay Packers won the NFC North, the Dallas Cowboys won the NFC East, and the Carolina Panthers claimed the NFC’s top seed with a win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17.
The Seahawks will host the Minnesota Vikings, who claimed the final NFC wild card spot with a win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 17, in a wild card game on Sunday, January 10 at 4:40 p.m. ET. The Packers will host the Cowboys in another wild card game on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The Panthers will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs and will host a divisional round game on Sunday, January 17 at 1:05 p.m. ET. The Seahawks/Vikings winner will travel to face the top-seeded Panthers that same day at 4:40 p.m. ET.
The NFC Wild Card Teams
There are four teams in each conference that make the playoffs. The NFC playoff schedule this year is as follows:
-The NFC Wild Card Teams: The Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons will play each other in the first round of the playoffs. The winner of that game will then go on to play the top-seeded team, which this year is the Green Bay Packers.
-The NFC Divisional Teams: The Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals will face off against each other in the second round of the playoffs. The winner of that game will move on to play either the Panthers or the Falcons, depending on who wins the first round.
The NFC Divisional Round
In the NFC, the New Orleans Saints will face off against the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Rams will take on the Dallas Cowboys. The Saints and Rams both earned first-round byes as the top two seeds in the conference.
The Vikings defeated the San Francisco 49ers 27-10 in their Wild Card matchup last week. Minnesota’s offense was stifled for much of the game, but they were able to put together enough scoring drives to win. The Saints had a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
The Rams defeated the Seattle Seahawks 30-20 in their Wild Card game last week. Los Angeles’ high-powered offense was on full display, as they put up 30 points against a good Seahawks defense. The Cowboys had a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
