The club’s official name is le Club de hockey Canadien. The team is frequently referred to in English and French as the Habs. French nicknames for the team include Les Canadiens, Le Bleu-Blanc-Rouge, La Sainte-Flanelle, Le Tricolore, Les Glorieux (or Nos Glorieux), and Les Habitants (from which “Habs” is derived).
The Canadiens were founded in 1909 as a charter member of the NHL. The club has won the Stanley Cup more times than any other franchise. The Chicago Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup six times, most recently in 2015. They have also appeared in the Finals 11 times, second only to the Montreal Canadiens. Blackhawks fans have plenty to cheer about, as their team is one of the most successful in NHL history.
Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers have won the Stanley Cup Finals twice in their history. They first won it in 1974, when they defeated the Boston Bruins in six games. They then won it again in 1975, when they defeated the Buffalo Sabres in six games.
