It’s a debate that has been around for years: who is the NBA player with the most championship rings?
Michael Jordan
No other player in the history of the NBA has won more championship rings than Michael Jordan. He was a part of six championship-winning teams with the Chicago Bulls, and also won two gold medals as part of the USA Olympic basketball team. In total, Jordan has eight championship rings.
Bill Russell
Bill Russell has the most NBA championship rings of any player in history, with 11. He played for the Boston Celtics from 1956 to 1969, winning his first championship in 1957. He would go on to win 10 more championships with the Celtics, including eight in a row from 1959 to 1966.
Sam Jones
Sam Jones has the most NBA championship rings of any player, with 10. He was a key member of the Boston Celtics teams that won championships in 1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, a six-time NBA champion, and a six-time NBA Most Valuable Player. He also happens to have the most championship rings of any player in NBA history, with a total of six.
Abdul-Jabbar won his first championship ring as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks in 1971, when the team defeated the Baltimore Bullets in five games. He would go on to win five more championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning back-to-back titles in 1982 and 1985, and three-peating from 2000 to 2002.
Other players who have won multiple championships include Robert Horry (seven), Michael Jordan (six), Scottie Pippen (six), Kobe Bryant (five), and Magic Johnson (five).
Magic Johnson
Johnson was drafted first overall in the 1979 NBA Draft by the Lakers. He won a championship as a rookie, and continued to play an integral role on the team throughout the 1980s. Over his 13-year NBA career, Johnson won five NBA championships, was an All-Star 12 times, and won three MVP Awards.
Robert Horry
Robert Horry has the most NBA championship rings of any player in history, with seven. He won two rings with the Houston Rockets, three with the Los Angeles Lakers, and two with the San Antonio Spurs.
Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bean Bryant is an American former professional basketball player. He played his entire 20-season career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Los Angeles Lakers. He won five NBA championships.
