Stan Wawrinka

Stanislas Wawrinka (/wɔːˈrɪŋkə/ waw-RINK-kə;[2][3] French: [stanislas vavʁiŋka]; born 28 March 1985) is a Swiss professional tennis player. He reached a career-high Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world No. 3 singles ranking for the first time on 27 January 2014. His greatest achievements are winning the 2014 Australian Open and 2015 French Open, both in straight sets, as well as helping Switzerland win the 2014 Davis Cup. He has reached at least the quarterfinal stage at each of the other Grand Slam tournaments: the French Open five times, Wimbledon three times, and the US Open twice, including making his maiden semifinals appearance at Wimbledon in 2016.[4]

Wawrinka considered quitting tennis in 2013 because of several injuries and a lack of motivation, but he then decided to continue playing.[5] Wawrinka is an all-court player with an aggressive baseline game and is known for his one-handed backhand.[6][7][8] His single-handed backhand had been considered one of his greatest weapons since his early career.[9]
