There are a total of 32 NFL teams, and each team has 53 players on their roster. So, how many NFL players are there in total? 1,696. That’s a lot of NFL players! But, what state produces the most NFL players? That would be Florida, with a total of 166 NFL players.

Alabama

As of 2019, Alabama has produced the most NFL players of any state in the US. With a total of 865 NFL players, Alabama easily tops the list. Florida is in second place with 841 NFL players, followed by Georgia (799), Texas (790), and Ohio (526).

Florida produces the most NFL players of any state in the U.S., with 276 players coming from the Sunshine State. That’s more than 10% of all NFL players! California is a distant second, with 251 NFL players hailing from the Golden State.

Louisiana

Including active and inactive players, a total of 1,025 NFL players were born in Louisiana, the most of any state. This is due to Louisiana’s rich football tradition as well as prominent college football programs in the state, such as LSU and Tulane.

Mississippi

Mississippi produces the most NFL players per capita of any state, according to a study by 24/7 Wall St. There are 32 NFL players from Mississippi, which is more than double the number from any other state.

The percentage of NFL players who come from Mississippi is even higher when adjusted for population. There are nearly eight NFL players per 100,000 people in Mississippi, which is more than four times the national average.

There are a number of reasons why Mississippi produces so many NFL players. One is that football is incredibly popular in the state. High school football attendance in Mississippi is among the highest in the country, and many of the state’s high school teams are very competitive.

Texas is second with just over 200 players. Pennsylvania, Ohio, and California round out the top five states.

University of Alabama

The University of Alabama has had 273 NFL Draft selections, the most of any school. Of those 273 players, there have been 217 first-round picks, also the most of any school. Forty-four percent of all Crimson Tide players drafted have been selected in the first round. That is the highest percentage for any school.

University of Georgia

There have been 271 NFL players come out of the University of Georgia, which is the most of any school in the nation. UGA has had at least one player selected in every NFL Draft since 1971 and has had a first-round pick in each of the last 15 drafts.

Louisiana State University produces more NFL players than any other school in the nation. In fact, LSU has produced more NFL first-round draft picks than any other school over the past 10 years. LSU has also had more players drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft than any other school over the past 20 years.

University of Mississippi

The University of Mississippi, located in Oxford, Mississippi, has had 72 NFL players drafted since its inception in 1848.
