The NBA Playoff Picture
As the NBA season comes to a close, we take a look at the teams that have secured their spot in the playoffs. The Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Toronto Raptors have all clinched their respective divisions, while the Milwaukee Bucks have claimed the best record in the league.
Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference playoff picture has been set. The Milwaukee Bucks have clinched the top spot in the conference, and they will be joined in the playoffs by the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets.
The Bucks have had a stellar season and are the clear favorite to come out of the East. They are followed by the Raptors, who are looking to defend their title from last year. The 76ers and Celtics are both young and talented teams that could make a run at the conference crown, while the Pacers and Heat are both experienced squads that could surprise some people.
The Pistons and Nets are both wild cards. The Pistons have been one of the most improved teams in the league this season, but they will need to string together some wins in order to make noise in the playoffs. The Nets are a dangerous team thanks to their dynamic duo of Kyrie Irving and Caris LeVert, but they will need to stay healthy if they want to make a run at the conference title.
Western Conference
The 2020 NBA Playoffs are finally here after a long and weird regular season. The playoffs will look a little different this year, as they are taking place entirely in the Orlando “bubble” at Walt Disney World. There will be no home-court advantage in the playoffs this year, which should make for an interesting postseason.
In the Western Conference, the top seed belongs to the Los Angeles Lakers, who had the best record in the conference at 52-19. The Lakers are followed by the Denver Nuggets (48-22), the Los Angeles Clippers (44-21), and the Houston Rockets (42-18).
The first round of the playoffs in the Western Conference will feature some very intriguing matchups. In the first round, the Lakers will take on the Portland Trail Blazers, while the Nuggets will take on Utah Jazz. The Clippers will battle it out with Dallas Mavericks, and Houston will go up against Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Western Conference is wide open this year and it should be a very exciting postseason. Make sure to tune in to see who comes out on top!
The Teams
There are eight teams remaining in the NBA playoffs. The Eastern Conference is represented by the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Boston Celtics. The Western Conference is represented by the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Denver Nuggets.
Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of two conferences that makes up the league, the other being the Western Conference. Like the Western Conference, the Eastern Conference is made up of 15 teams, organized in three divisions.
The three division winners and the team with the next best record in the conference automatically qualify for the playoffs. The remaining spot goes to the team with the next best record, regardless of division. This system guarantees that all of the top five teams in a conference will make the playoffs, but it also means that a division winner with a worse record than a team that did not win a division can be left out of the playoffs.
The playoff seeding is based on each team’s record. The conference’s regular season champion is seeded first overall, followed by the other division winners and remaining teams in order of their regular season win-loss records.
Western Conference
In the Western Conference, we have the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, and the Denver Nuggets.
