The NBA Semifinals are upon us and it looks to be an exciting series. Here is a look at the teams that are still in the running for the NBA Championship.
The Teams
The 2017 NBA Playoffs are finally upon us. After what seems like forever, the wait is finally over and fans can rejoice. All of the teams have been decided and it is time to see who will come out on top. This year, the Golden State Warriors are the favorites to win it all, but they will have some stiff competition.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, having won 16 NBA championships, their last being in 2010.
Los Angeles Clippers
Leading the charge for the Clippers is point guard Chris Paul. The nine-time All-Star is averaging 18.8 points, 9.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game in the playoffs. He’s not the only player putting up big numbers, as power forward Blake Griffin is averaging 21.6 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the field. Sixth man Jamal Crawford is also chipping in 16 points per game off the bench.
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are an American professional basketball team based in Denver, Colorado. The Nuggets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The team was founded as the Denver Larks in 1967 as a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association (ABA), but changed its name to Rockets before the first season. In 1974, the Nuggets joined the NBA as part of the ABA–NBA merger.
The team has had some periods of success, making the playoffs in nine straight seasons from 2004 to 2012, qualifying for the Playoffs in every season from 2014 to 2019. However, they have yet to make an appearance in the NBA Finals.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are an American professional basketball team based in Miami, Florida. The Heat compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The Heat play their home games at American Airlines Arena, and have won three NBA championships.
The Schedule
The first two games of each best-of-seven series in the Semifinals are set. The Los Angeles Lakers will host the Houston Rockets on Friday, September 13 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN, while the Milwaukee Bucks will travel to take on the Toronto Raptors on Saturday, September 14 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Game 1
The Schedule for the NBA Semifinals is out and the first games will be played on Sunday, April 28th.
The first game will be between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets. The Warriors are currently the favorites to win the series, but the Rockets have been hot lately and could give them a run for their money. The Warriors are led by Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, while the Rockets are led by James Harden and Chris Paul.
The second game of the day will be between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics are coming off a hard-fought series against the Milwaukee Bucks, while the Cavaliers swept the Toronto Raptors. The Celtics are led by Kyrie Irving and Al Horford, while the Cavaliers are led by LeBron James. This should be a great series between two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
Make sure to tune in on Sunday for some exciting NBA playoff basketball!
Game 2
The two best teams in the NBA will go head-to-head in the Semifinals. The Finals will start on October 13th and will conclude on October 21st.

Both teams have been preparing for this moment all season long. They have both put in the work and they are both ready to give it their all. It is going to be a hard-fought battle, but only one team can come out victorious.

The Los Angeles Lakers will take on the Houston Rockets in Game 3 of the NBA Semifinals on Friday, October 9th. The game will be played at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California and will tip off at 9:00 PM EDT. This is a best of seven series, so the winner of this game will take a 2-1 lead in the series.

In the East, it will be the 1-seed Milwaukee Bucks squaring off against the 5-seed Miami Heat, and the 2-seed Toronto Raptors will take on the 3-seed Boston Celtics.
Lakers vs. Clippers
This is the first time in NBA history that two teams from the same city have met in the playoffs. It’s also a matchup of the two best teams in the league. The Lakers have been to the Finals nine times since 2000, winning five times. The Clippers have never been to the Finals.
Nuggets vs. Heat
The 2020 NBA playoffs was the postseason tournament of the National Basketball Association’s 2019–20 season. The playoffs were originally scheduled to begin on April 18, 2020 and end on June 16, 2020. However, the semifinals will now start on September 30th and end on TBD. The Nuggets are set to take on the Miami Heat in one of the semifinal games.
The Denver Nuggets made their first Conference Finals appearance in franchise history in 2019, led by All-Star center Nikola Jokić. They won 54 games in the regular season, good for second place in the Western Conference behind only the defending champion Golden State Warriors. In the playoffs, they knocked off the San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers in seven games each before taking down the top-seeded Warriors in six games to reach the Conference Finals. There, they lost to eventual champion Toronto Raptors in seven games.
The Miami Heat reached the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014, led by All-Star Jimmy Butler. They won 44 games during the regular season, earning fourth place in the Eastern Conference. In the playoffs, they swept both Indiana and Milwaukee before taking down top-seeded Boston in six games to reach their first NBA Finals appearance since 2014 and just their sixth overall appearance in franchise history. In a classic seven-game series against defending champion Toronto, they came back from a 3–2 deficit to win their fourth NBA championship overall and first since 2006.
