What Teams Are In The Nfl Play Offs?

It’s that time of year again! The NFL playoffs are just around the corner, and we’ve got all the info you need to know about which teams are in and who’s out.

AFC

The American Football Conference – also known as the AFC – is one of the two conferences that make up the National Football League (NFL). The AFC is made up of 16 teams, divided into four divisions: the East, West, North, and South.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are members of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 1999. They entered the final week of the season with a chance to clinch the AFC East, but a loss to the Miami Dolphins combined with a New England Patriots win gave the division title to New England. As the AFC’s fifth seed, the Bills defeated the AFC South champion Jacksonville Jaguars 10–3 in the Wild Card round. The following week, they were defeated by the eventual Super Bowl LII champion Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division.[2] The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name.[3] The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion. Hunt’s son, Clark, serves as chairman and CEO. While Mattie Rhodes serves as general manager.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.

The Cowboys compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference East division. They are headquartered in Frisco, Texas, and play their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which opened for the 2009 season. The stadium took its current name prior to the 2013 season. The Cowboys joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1960. The team’s national following might best be represented by its NFL record of consecutive sell-outs. The Cowboys’ streak of 190 consecutive sold-out regular and post-season games began in 2002. As of December 27, 2016, they also have recorded 20 straight winning seasons (1966–85), in which they missed the playoffs only twice (1974 and 1984), an NFL record that remains unchallenged.

Green Bay Packers

As the NFC’s top seed, the Green Bay Packers have home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs. Green Bay will host Seattle in an NFC divisional playoff game at Lambeau Field on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2:05 p.m. CT.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2004, clinching the NFC West division title on December 23 with a 42–7 victory over the division-rival Seattle Seahawks. They finished the regular season with an 11–5 record. The Rams entered the playoffs as the divisional opponents of the NFC North champions, the Seattle Seahawks.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The Saints currently play their home games at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in downtown New Orleans, which they share with the city’s other NFL franchise, the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The team was founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The Saints began play on September 17, 1967. The franchise was sold to Tom Benson in 1985 for $70 million.[8][9] Under Benson’s leadership, the team won Super Bowl XLIV (44) in 2010 over the Indianapolis Colts 31–17,[10] giving the city its first NFL championship.[11]

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football franchise based in Seattle, Washington. The Seahawks compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. They joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Seahawks are owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and are currently coached by Pete Carroll. Since 2002, the Seahawks have played their home games at CenturyLink Field, located south of downtown Seattle. The Seahawks previously played home games in the Kingdome (1976–1999) and Husky Stadium (1994, 2000–2001).

Seattle is one of three professional franchises in Washington state; the other two are the Washington Redskins, who play in Landover, Maryland, and Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners, who play in Seattle.
