What Teams Are Left In the NFL Playoffs?

AFC

There are four teams remaining in the AFC playoffs: the Kansas City Chiefs, the New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Let’s take a look at each team’s chances of winning the Super Bowl.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are currently the number one seed in the AFC. They have a bye week in the first round of the playoffs, meaning they will automatically advance to the second round. In the second round, they will play the winner of the game between the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. The Ravens have a record of 14-2, meaning they have only lost two games all season. They are led by their quarterback, Lamar Jackson, who is considered to be one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The Bills compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays their home games at New Era Field in Orchard Park, New York. The Bills are the only NFL team that plays its home games in the state of New York. The Bills conduct summer training camp at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, New York, an eastern suburb of Rochester.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.

NFC

The NFC teams left in the NFL playoffs are the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, and Minnesota Vikings.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NFL, having made eight Super Bowl appearances, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos for second most in league history behind only the New England Patriots. The Cowboys have played their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas since 2009.

Green Bay Packers

As the NFC’s top seed, the Green Bay Packers have a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs. The Packers will host the lowest-remaining seed in the divisional round on January 12 or 13.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are members of the National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Vikings joined the National Football League (NFL) as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season. The team competes in the NFL as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division.
The Vikings played their home games at Metropolitan Stadium from 1961 to 1981 and at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome from 1982 to 2013. During the 2002–13 seasons, the team played its home games at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, which served as temporary facility for Lindenwood University while its own Harlan C. Hunter Stadium was being renovated and expanded.
The Vikings have appeared in four Super Bowls: Super Bowl IV, Super Bowl VIII, Super Bowl IX, and Super Bowl XI. They have an NFL-high 11 appearances in conference championship games and 20 divisional championships (an NFL record), including 13 NFC North championships since they were established till 2020 when they were replaced by Tampa Bay Buccaneers as champions due to their 7–9 record, which was good enough only for second place behind Green Bay Packers who won NFC North with 13-3 record that year.
In 2000, they became the first NFL team to win all four playoff games on the road en route to becoming NFC champions and reaching Super Bowl XLIV, where they lost 20–17 to AFC champion Baltimore Ravens; this was also the first time that two wild card teams—the Ravens and New York Giants—faced off in a Super Bowl. As of 2019, according to The Buffalo News research database Beyond Sunday Morning QB’s database of all-time NFL wins & losses by teams & coaches through week 17 of 2019 season (counting only regular season), Vikings are ranked 5th all time (tied with New York Jets) with 565–428–10 (.567) win-loss record behind Green Bay Packers (748–573–37, .565), Pittsburgh Steelers (697–550–21, .557), Dallas Cowboys (696–552–20, .556) & San Francisco 49ers (691-555-22,.554).
