Dallas Cowboys (1989-1995)
Sanders was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft with the fifth overall pick. He signed a six-year, $1.2 million contract with the team and was immediately inserted into their starting lineup. In his first season, he recorded 54 tackles, four interceptions, and one sack while being named to the NFL All-Rookie Team. The following year, he was even better as he intercepted six passes and returned two of them for touchdowns while also adding one sack. He was selected for his first Pro Bowl and was also named a First-Team All-Pro for his efforts.
In 1991, Sanders had another standout season as he intercepted five passes and returned two of them for touchdowns. He also had a career-high 57 tackles and was selected for his second consecutive Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors. The following year, Sanders recorded 52 tackles and three interceptions while being named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl.
In 1993, Sanders missed three games due to injury but still managed to intercept four passes and return one of them for a touchdown. He was once again named to the Pro Bowl for his efforts. The following year, he played in all 16 games and intercepted three passes while being named to his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl.
In 1995, Sanders played in 15 games and intercepting four passes while being named to his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl. After the season, he became a free agent and signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
San Francisco 49ers (1994)
On April 8, 1994, Deion Sanders signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers, making him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history at the time. He played in 14 games at left cornerback and led the team with five interceptions while also adding two touchdown receptions on offense. The 49ers finished the season 13-3 and beat the Dallas Cowboys 38-28 in the NFC Championship Game. Sanders then had two tackles and an interception as the 49ers defeated the Charger 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX.
Washington Redskins (2000-2002)
Sanders signed with the Washington Redskins in 2000. He was released by the team in 2002.
Baltimore Ravens (2004-2005)
In 2004, Sanders returned to the NFL to play for the Baltimore Ravens. He played two seasons with the team, and was part of the Ravens’ Super Bowl XL winning team in 2005. Sanders retired from the NFL for good after the 2005 season.
