Kevin Durant’s NBA Teams: A Timeline
Kevin Durant has played for three NBA teams throughout his career: the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Golden State Warriors, and the Brooklyn Nets. He has been an All-Star eleven times, a league MVP once, and has won three NBA championships. Let’s take a look at Kevin Durant’s NBA teams throughout his career.
Oklahoma City Thunder (2008-2016)
The Oklahoma City Thunder drafted Kevin Durant with the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft. Durant made an immediate impact, winning the Rookie of the Year Award in his first season. He quickly became one of the best players in the league, and helped lead the Thunder to playoff appearances in each of his first four seasons. In 2010-11, Durant was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player, becoming the youngest player in league history to win the award.
The Thunder reached the NBA Finals for the first time in 2012, but lost to the Miami Heat in five games. They made it back to the Finals in 2014, but lost again, this time to the San Antonio Spurs in five games.
Durant became a free agent after the 2015-16 season, and decided to leave Oklahoma City for greener pastures.
Golden State Warriors (2016-2019)
Kevin Durant joined the Warriors in 2016, winning his first NBA championship with the team that year. He would go on to win two more championships with the Warriors before leaving to join the Brooklyn Nets in 2019.
Brooklyn Nets (2019-present)
In July 2019, Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets, joining Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan. He helped lead the Nets to the playoffs in his first season with the team, averaging 26.9 points per game. Durant suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, however, and missed the entire 2020-21 season as he recovered from surgery.
