Kobe Bryant led the Lakers to victory with a game-winning shot in Game 7, 83–79. With the win, the Lakers secured their 16th NBA championship, which tied them with the Boston Celtics for first place on the league’s all-time wins list. It was also Bryant’s fifth NBA championship, tying him with Magic Johnson and Bob Cousy for second place on the league’s all-time list behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; he also won Finals MVP honors for his second consecutive year.
