Contents
It’s down to the final four in the NFL Playoffs. Who will make it to the big game?
AFC
The Baltimore Ravens and the Tennessee Titans are the only teams remaining in the AFC playoffs. The Ravens are the No. 1 seed and the Titans are the No. 6 seed.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ravens compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The team plays its home games at M&T Bank Stadium and is headquartered in Owings Mills.
The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, who was then the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore. As part of a settlement between Modell and the city of Cleveland, the Browns’ intellectual property—including team name, logos, training facility, and history—were kept in trust and the franchise was awarded an expansion team that began play in 1996. The Ravens have qualified for the NFL playoffs ten times since 2000, with two Super Bowl victories (Super Bowl XXXV and XLVII), two AFC Championship Game appearances (2000 and 2008), 15 playoff victories (tied for 4th all-time with Dallas), and four divisional round appearances (2001, 2003, 2006, 2009). The Ravens are currently coached by John Harbaugh, who is in his 13th season as head coachacci
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The Bills franchise was founded in 1959 as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL), and played their home games at War Memorial Stadium from 1960 to 1972. The Bills began competitive play in 1960 as a member of the AFL. Prior to the 2013 season, the Bills had not posted a winning record in seventeen consecutive seasons, dating back to 1995. The Bills had an NFL-worst record of 3–13 in 2004 and became the first team since 1976 to return to the playoffs following a four-win season.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The Chiefs were founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and were a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team moved to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.
New England Patriots
As of right now, the New England Patriots are leading the AFC with a 12-4 record. They have clinched the AFC East and have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Patriots are looking strong as they head into the postseason and are favored to win the Super Bowl.
NFC
As the 2020 NFL season winds down, only a handful of teams are still fighting for a chance to make it to the Super Bowl. In the NFC, the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, and Seattle Seahawks have all clinched a spot in the playoffs. The final spot in the NFC will be decided between the Los Angeles Rams and the Chicago Bears.
Dallas Cowboys
As the NFC’s number one seed, the Dallas Cowboys have a first-round bye and will host a divisional playoff game at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, January 15. The Cowboys are led by quarterback Dak Prescott, who threw for 3,667 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, and running back Ezekiel Elliott, who rushed for 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns. Dallas’ defense is ranked sixth in the NFL, allowing an average of only 18.6 points per game. The Cowboys will face either the Green Bay Packers or the New York Giants in the divisional round.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.
The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1922 and 1923. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-professional teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, the Packers competed against other semi-pro clubs from around Wisconsin and the Midwest, before joining the American Professional Football Association (APFA), now known as the NFL, in 1921. Although Green Bay is by far the smallest major league professional sports market in North America, Forbes ranked the Packers as the world’s 26th most valuable sports franchise in 2016, with a value of $2.35 billion. The Packers have won 13 league championships, more than any other team in NFL history, with nine pre–Super Bowl NFL titles and four Super Bowl victories.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are still in the running for the NFC championship title and they will be facing off against the Los Angeles Rams this weekend. The Saints have had an incredible season and they are definitely a team to watch out for in the playoffs. They have one of the best offenses in the league, led by quarterback Drew Brees, and their defense has been playing well lately. If they can win this weekend, they will be one step closer to making it to the Super Bowl.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football team based in Seattle, Washington. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. They joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. Wikipedia
