Introduction
The Texas Longhorns baseball team represents The University of Texas at Austin in NCAA Division I college baseball. The Longhorns play their home games at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on the university’s campus in Austin, Texas. Since 1977, the team has been coached by Augie Garrido. In 2019, David Pierce took over as head coach.
Texas baseball is one of the most successful collegiate programs in history. As of the end of the 2015 season, the Longhorns have appeared in fifty College World Series (CWS), second only to USC. They have won six national championships (five NCAA Division I titles and one conference tournament title), along with thirty-three conference championships and sixteen regional championships. Additionally, thirty-seven Longhorn players have been named first-team All-Americans, and fifteen have gone on to play Major League Baseball (MLB).
The Schedule
The 2019 Texas baseball schedule is set. The Longhorns will play their first game on February 15th against LSU at Minute Maid Park in Houston. The home opener is scheduled for February 22nd against UT-Arlington at Disch-Falk Field.
Texas will have 31 home games and 30 away games this season. Big 12 conference play begins on March 29th when the Longhorns travel to Norman to take on the Sooners. The home conference opener is set for April 5th against Baylor.
