As of the end of the 2015 season, the Longhorns have appeared in 50 NCAA Division I Baseball Championships and have won five national championships – 1949, 1950, 1975, 1983, and 2002. After having little success in their first 25 years in Division I baseball (1947-1971), they gained prominence after head coach Cliff Gustafson led them to nine College World Series appearances and five national championships from 1972 to 1983.
