Only two teams from each conference can have a first-round bye (one of these is given to each division winner), which means that at least two wild card teams will be playing on Wild Card Weekend. All four division winners are seeded 1–4 based on their overall won-lost-tied record, with any ties broken by various tiebreakers. The NFL does not use a fixed bracket playoff system so different treatments of divisional and conference seeding can occur; match-ups are determined based on Playoff seeds.
