The Don’ts
Baseball tryouts are important because they are often the first time the coaches get to see you play. They are looking for a certain skill set and if you don’t have it, you probably won’t make the team. There are a few things you shouldn’t do if you want to make a good impression.
Don’ts for what to wear
-Don’t show up in cargo shorts or jean shorts. At best, you’ll look out of place and at worst, you’ll look like you don’t take the tryout seriously. Wear athletic shorts that are comfortable and won’t inhibit your performance.
-Don’t wear a tank top or sleeveless shirt. Again, you want to avoid anything that will distract from your performance or make you look less than professional. Stick to a t-shirt or shirt with sleeves.
-Don’t wear your baseball cleats. You might think they’ll give you an edge, but they’re actually more likely to trip you up. Wear comfortable sneakers or turf shoes instead.
-Don’t forget your baseball glove. This one is pretty self-explanatory, but it’s easy to forget in the excitement of the tryout. Make sure you have your glove and all of your other gear before you head to the tryout.
Don’ts for what to bring
You should not bring food or drinks other than water to tryouts. You will be running and working hard, so you will need to stay hydrated, but there is no need for any other type of drink. You should also not bring any extra gear such as a bat or glove. The coaches will provide all the gear you need.
