What Week Is It In NFL Football?
The NFL regular season is 17 weeks long, with each team playing 16 games and having one bye week. The season starts the week after Labor Day (the first Monday in September) and ends the week after Christmas. The playoffs start the following week, in early January.
The NFL schedule is usually released in mid- to late April, but it has been delayed until May 9 this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
2.1 Preseason
Preseason games are exhibition games played before the start of the regular season. They are used by NFL coaches to evaluate their team’s performance, and give them a chance to practice and improve before the start of the season.
Preseason games do not count towards a team’s regular season record, and there is no playoffs at the end of the preseason. The preseason is made up of four weeks, with each team playing two games.
