The Milwaukee Bucks are an American professional basketball team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Bucks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Central Division. The team was founded in 1968 as an expansion team, and plays at the Fiserv Forum. Former U.S. Senator Herb Kohl was the long-time owner of the team, but on April 16, 2014, a group led by billionaire hedge fund managers Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry agreed to purchase a majority interest in the team from Kohl, a sale which was approved by the NBA Board of Governors on May 15. The new owners appointed John Hammond as general manager.
In 1971, the Bucks won their first division title, as well as and their first conference championship by defeating the Baltimore Bullets in five games during the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The Bucks’ fortunes began to turn in 1989–90 when they drafted Shawn Kemp who would become a perennial All-Star but unfortunately couldn’t lead them deep into playoffs ending each post season campaign early often being upset by lower seeds such Cleveland Cavaliers who swept them during his rookie season 1990 despite this major setback Kemp going on have great individual success being selected 6 times All Star game being named All Star game MVP 1999 also leading league scoring average 1995 likewise being inducted Hall Fame 2020
Kemp was traded 1996 for Vin Baker another All Star who quickly became one franchise cornerstone along side Glenn Robinson both players taking team deep into playoffs losing Eastern Conference Finals 2001 Robinson himself would be inducted Hall Fame 2014
Baker on other hand didn’t have long lasting career due drug alcohol abuse showing up overweight out shape often dealing injuries which forced him retire early 2006

They made it back-to-back trips to the Conference Finals by defeating the Boston Celtics in six games. In 1977–78, Abdul-Jabbar missed 14 games with an injury and Dandridge led them to a 55–27 record and their fourth straight trip to the Conference Finals, where they lost to Seattle SuperSonics in five games.
In 1979–80, newly acquired small forward Marques Johnson helped lead them back to the Conference Finals for the fifth straight year where they lost to Los Angeles Lakers in six games. In 1980–81, head coach Bob Weiss was replaced during mid-season by assistant Don Casey; Johnson and Sidney Moncrief were selected for the All-Star team as they finished first place in their division for a sixth consecutive year with a 52–30 record but were swept byBoston Celtics in conference semifinals 2–0
