Bobby Lashley’s WWE Career

Bobby Lashley is an American professional wrestler and actor who is currently signed to WWE. He is a two-time Intercontinental Champion and one-time United States Champion. Lashley is also a one-time WWE Champion, making him the only African-American to have held the WWE Championship.

His first WWE run

Bobby Lashley made his WWE debut on the SmackDown brand in December 2005. He quickly ascended up the ranks of WWE, winning the United States Championship in February 2006 and the ECW World Championship in May 2006. Lashley held both titles for several months before losing the United States Championship to King Booker in October 2006. He regained the ECW Championship from Booker the following month. In 2007, Lashley became a member of the WWE Tag Team Champions with United States Champion MVP, holding both titles until he was drafted to the Raw brand as part of the 2007 WWE Draft in June.

His return to WWE

Bobby Lashley returned to WWE television on the January 8, 2018 episode of Raw, confronting WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and setting up a match between the two at the Royal Rumble. The following week on Raw, it was revealed that undertaker had returned to WWE and was also entered in the Royal Rumble. On the January 22 episode of Raw, Lashley defeated Elias in a steel cage match after interference from Lesnar. After Raw went off the air, Lesnar and Lashley brawled with one another.

At the 2018 Royal Rumble, Lashley entered at number 17 and lasted over 20 minutes before being eliminated by Lesnar. The following night on Raw, it was announced that Lashley would team up with Braun Strowman to face The Miz and Miztourage (Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas) at Elimination Chamber. At Elimination Chamber, Lashley and Strowman won after Strowman pinned Miz.

Bobby Lashley as WWE Champion

Bobby Lashley became the WWE Champion on April 7, 2019, defeating The Miz in the main event of WrestleMania 35. This marked Lashley’s first WWE Championship reign. Prior to winning the WWE Championship, Lashley had held the United States Championship and the Intercontinental Championship.

His first WWE Championship win

Bobby Lashley first won the WWE Championship on April 11, 2021, defeating Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37. He is currently in his second reign as champion, having won the title again on May 23, 2021, at WWE Backlash. Lashley is the first African American to have held the WWE Championship for more than one day.

His second WWE Championship win

Lashley’s second WWE Championship win came at Elimination Chamber on February 17, 2019, when he was one of the last two men remaining in the titular match also involving Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy, John Cena and Kurt Angle. After Strowman had eliminated all five other participants and was preparing to celebrate his victory, Lashley blindsided him with a Spear to win the title for a second time.
