Why Edge Returned to WWE

After a nine-year hiatus, Edge returned to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble.

Money

In a recent interview with Chris Jericho, Edge revealed that the primary factor in his return was money.

“I had a lot of people ask me, ‘Why now? Why WWE?,'” Edge said. “It really came down to a financial decision. I’m at a point in my life where I have a wife and two kids, and I have to provide for them. I’m not the kind of guy who’s going to sit at home and do nothing. I need to work.”

Edge also mentioned that he is currently in the best physical shape of his life and feels like he has something to prove after being away from WWE for so long.

WWE Universe

On the January 25, 2010 episode of Raw, it was announced that Edge would be the guest host of that night’s show. During the show, he defeated WWE Champion Sheamus in a non-title match. The following week on Raw, after being confronted by Kane and having a staredown with WWE Champion Sheamus, he was interviewed by Jerry Lawler. In the interview, after saying that his neck injury was not fully healed and that doctors told him that he might never wrestle again, he said that he came back to Raw because WrestleMania is WWE’s Super Bowl and he wanted to be a part of it. The following week on Raw, after defeating Dolph Ziggler, Edge was once again confronted by Kane.
