Emma Raducanu’s Family
Emma Raducanu, a Canadian professional tennis player, was born on September 16, 1999, in Quebec City, to Romanian parents Alexandra and Dragos Raducanu. Alexandra Raducanu had been a professional tennis player herself. Emma’s father Dragos Raducanu had been a member of the Romanian national water polo team.

Emma Raducanu was born in Bucharest, Romania, on September 11, 2001. Her father, Andrei Raducanu, was a tennis coach, and her mother, Alexandra (née Spiru), was a former professional volleyball player. Raducanu’s paternal grandfather, Dumitru Raducanu, and great-grandfather, Alexandru Raducanu, were both professional footballers.
She has an older sister who is also a professional tennis player
Emma has an older sister, Mihaela, who is also a professional tennis player. Their parents, Dragos and Aurelia, were both professional athletes; Dragos was a Moldovan football player who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics, while Aurelia was a Romanian handball player.
Emma Raducanu’s Training
Emma started training at the age of six with her father as her coach. She played her first tournament at eight years old. Emma had a lot of success as a junior player. She won many tournaments and was ranked as high as number two in the world in the juniors.
She trains at the National Tennis Centre in Bucharest
Raducanu trains at the National Tennis Centre in Bucharest under the guidance of coach Zoltan Kovacs. She is currently ranked world No. 409 in the WTA singles rankings and world No. 507 in the WTA doubles rankings.

Emma Raducanu’s Results
At just 16 years old, Emma Raducanu has had some impressive results in her young tennis career. She has a win-loss record of 60-4 in 2019 alone, with her biggest title coming at the Grade 5 ITF event in Bucharest. She has also won numerous other junior tournaments in her home country of Romania.

In 2019, Emma Raducanu made her WTA main draw debut at the Bucharest Open, defeating Gabriela Ce in the first round before losing to world No. 9 Johanna Konta in straight sets in the second round.
At the 2019 French Open, Raducanu qualified for her first Grand Slam main draw, where she defeated Carol Zhao in the first round before losing to former world No. 1 Garbiñe Muguruza in the second round.
