Based in Broward County, the Panthers are the second southernmost team in the NHL behind the Tampa Bay Lightning. The team’s headquarters and practice facilities are located just outside Broward County in Coral Springs, Florida. The Panthers play their home games at BB&T Center located in Sunrise, Florida just outside Broward County.

The Florida Panthers joined the NHL on June 22, 1993. The team was originally supposed to be based in South Florida, but due to delays in construction of their arena, they were forced to play their first season in Dade County at the Miami Arena.
