After losing the Raw Tag Team Championship to The B-Team at Extreme Rules, The Hardy Boyz returned to action on the July 9, 2018 episode of Raw, defeating The Revival in a tag team match.Later that night, after Raw GM Kurt Angle banned The Revival from using their Shatter Machine finisher, they attacked Angle. However, The Hardy Boyz made the save and put them through tables.On the July 16 episode of Raw, with Angle unable to compete due to his storyline injuries from the attack, Acting GM Baron Corbin scheduled a match between The Hardy Boyz and The Revival for later that night to determine who would face Breezango for the vacant Raw Tag Team Championship at Extreme Rules. The Hardy Boyz won the match after Jeff Hardy hit Dash Wilder with a Twist of Fate followed by Matt Hardy hitting Scott Dawson with a Twist of Fate off the top rope. At Extreme Rules, they defeated Breezango to win the vacant Raw Tag Team Championship for the second time.
