When Does F1 Esports Start in 2021?

The 2021 F1 Esports season is just around the corner. Here’s everything you need to know about when it starts and how you can watch it.


F1 Esports is the official esports series of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The 2021 F1 Esports season will see the world’s best virtual racers compete for the title of F1 Esports World Champion across a series of races that will be held throughout the year.

The 2021 F1 Esports season will commence with the Pro Draft, which will take place on March 9th. This will be followed by the first race of the season, which is scheduled to take place on March 28th. The full calendar for the 2021 F1 Esports season has not yet been released, but it is expected that the season will conclude with the World Championship Final in November.

What is F1 Esports?

In a nutshell, F1 Esports is competitive racing featuring the world’s best virtual drivers. They battle it out on the official F1 game, using the latest Formula 1 cars and race tracks.

The first ever F1 Esports Pro Series took place in 2017, and since then the competition has gone from strength to strength. In 2019, we saw a record number of entrants – with over 60,000 drivers taking part in qualifying races for a place in the Pro Series.

The 2020 F1 Esports Pro Series was due to take place over six rounds between September and December. However, due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Season 3 finale took place online on 9 December 2020.

Looking to 2021, a date for the start of Season 4 of the F1 Esports Pro Series has not yet been announced. However, we do know that qualifying will begin in March 2021 – so make sure you keep an eye out for that!

How to get involved in F1 Esports

F1 Esports is the official esports series of the world-renowned Formula 1 racing organisation. The series utilises the F1 video game franchise from Codemasters and features some of the world’s best virtual racers going head-to-head in a bid to be crowned F1 Esports World Champion.

So when does F1 Esports start in 2021? The answer is that the first event will take place on February 10th, with qualifiers running throughout January beforehand. To be in with a chance of qualifying, you’ll need to have an active copy of F1 2020 and a copy of the game on either PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC. If you fit those criteria, all you need to do is head over to f1esports.com and sign up for an account. Once you’re registered and logged in, you’ll be able to see all of the available qualifier events and sign up for whichever ones you like.


After a spectacular 2020 season, the 2021 F1 Esports Series is just around the corner! The official start date for the 2021 season has not been announced yet, but we do know that pre-season testing will take place in March. The first race of the season is provisionally scheduled for April 18th, 2021.
