The NBA Playoff
The NBA Playoff is a professional basketball tournament in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The playoffs began on April 18, 2021, and will end on July 22, 2021.
What is the NBA Playoff?
The NBA Playoff is the postseason championship series of the National Basketball Association. The playoffs are a best-of-seven elimination tournament among sixteen teams that qualified by having one of the league’s best records in their respective conference during the regular season. The first two rounds are played within each conference, and the conference champions advance to the NBA Finals, which is a best-of-seven series between the Eastern and Western Conference champions.
In order for a team to qualify for the playoffs, they must have one of the best records in their respective conference. The sixteen teams that qualify are then seeded based on their regular season record. The seedings are as follows:
The first round of the playoffs is a best-of-seven series between the eight lower seeds and the eight higher seeds. The four lower seeds in each conference play each other, and so do the four higher seeds. The team with the better record plays the team with the worse record, and so on. The first round is played within each conference.
The second round of the playoffs is also a best-of-seven series, but this time it is between the four surviving teams from each conference. Again, seeding determines who plays who, but this time it doesn’t matter whether a team is from the East or West; all that matters is whether they have a better record than their opponents.
The winners of each conference’s second round series advance to their respective conference finals. This round is also a best-of-seven series, and it determines which team from each conference will advance to NBA Finals.
Finally, the NBA Finals is a best-of-seven series between the Eastern Conference champion and Western Conference champion. Seeding does not matter in this round; all that matters is that each team won their previous series.
The NBA Playoff begins in April and typically ends in June.
