Introduction

The following is a list of Tennessee baseball’s game times and TV schedule for the 2020 season. The Volunteers play their home games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, located on the university’s campus in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Tennessee’s first game of the season is against Appalachian State on February 14. The Volunteers will then play a three-game series against Clemson from February 21-23.

The Regular Season

The Tennessee Baseball team usually starts their regular season in late February and play until early May. (This can vary depending on how the team is doing.) They typically have about 40 games in their regular season.

February

February baseball in Tennessee usually means one thing – the start of the regular season. The first regular season game is typically played on the last Saturday in February, with the majority of games being played in March and April. Some years, however, the season may start as early as late January or early February.

March

Tennessee’s regular baseball season runs from the beginning of March to the end of May.
During this time, the team will play a total of 56 games. 40 of these games will be conference games, and the remaining 16 will be non-conference games.
Of the 40 conference games, 20 will be played at home and 20 will be played away. The 16 non-conference games will all be played at home.

April

The Volunteers begin their season the last week of February with a five-game homestand. After that, they play their first road series against East Carolina. Tennessee has a few more home games in March, including a three-game series against Oregon. The Volunteers wrap up their regular season at home against Vanderbilt in late May.

May

The regular season starts in late February and runs until early May. SEC teams play a total of 56 games, with each team playing four games against each of its 14 conference opponents. The top eight teams in the conference standings advance to the SEC Tournament, which is held at a neutral site. The winner of the tournament earns the SEC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

June

During the regular season, which begins in late February and runs through early June, each team plays an opponent in its own division 14 times, home and away. They play all teams in the opposite division six or seven times (three or four games at home, three or four on the road), and they play all teams in the other two divisions four times (two at home, two on the road).

The Postseason

Baseball in the state of Tennessee is a big deal. The Tennessee Volunteers have a rich history dating back to the late 1800s. The team has won numerous conference championships and made several trips to the College World Series. The Vols have also produced a number of Major League Baseball players.

July

The MLB postseason is a complicated affair that takes place over the course of October. The playoffs begin with the Wild Card Game, a one-game playoff between the two teams with the best record who did not win their division. The winner of this game goes on to play the team with the best record in their division in the divisional round.

August

In baseball, the postseason is the period from the end of the regular season through to the World Series, when the top teams in each league compete for their league’s championship.

The postseason schedule for Major League Baseball (MLB) begins in late September, or early October, and can extend into November if a World Series game seven is necessary.

In Tennessee, college baseball teams compete in the postseason from late May through June in order to advance to the College World Series.

September

baseball fans know that most teams’ regular seasons end in September. What comes next? The postseason, of course! October is when the playoffs start. But before we get to the playoffs, let’s take a look at what happens at the end of September.

The last few weeks of September are when teams are trying to secure their spot in the playoffs. The top teams in each league (American and National) automatically qualify for the postseason. These are the teams that had the best regular-season record. But there are also two wild card spots up for grabs. The wild card is given to the two teams with the best records who did not win their division.

Once the playoff field is set, it’s time for some more baseball! The first round of the playoffs is called the Wild Card Game. This is a one-game playoff between the two wild card teams. The winner moves on to play one of the division winners in the next round.

The next round is called the Division Series (ALDS and NLDS). This is a best-of-five series between two teams. The division winner with the better record gets to play at home for Games 1, 2, and 5 (if necessary).

The team that wins each Division Series moves on to play in the Championship Series (ALCS or NLCS). This is also a best-of-five series with Game 1 being played at home by the team with better record.

Finally, we’ve arrived at baseball’s biggest stage: The World Series! This best-of-seven series pits the winner of American League against National League. Once again, home field advantage goes to whichever team had a better regular season record.

And that’s it! That’s how baseball’s postseason works. So when does Tennessee play? September 28th – October 1st
