When Does Vanderbilt Play Baseball?

Vanderbilt will play 37 home games and 35 away games in the 2020 season. The home games will be played at Hawkins Field, and the away games will be at various stadiums across the country. Vanderbilt will open their season on February 14th against Eastern Illinois.

Vanderbilt’s Baseball Team

Vanderbilt’s baseball team is one of the most successful teams in the country. They have won the College World Series seven times and have made it to the finals fourteen times. Vanderbilt also has the most Vanderbilt Commodores in the Major League Baseball. The team is currently coached by Tim Corbin and play their home games at the Vanderbilt University Ballpark.

Roster

The Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team represents Vanderbilt University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team is a member of the Southeastern Conference, which is one of the six major conferences in NCAA Division I baseball. They play their home games at Hawkins Field on the university’s Nashville, Tennessee campus.

Vanderbilt has won five NCAA tournament national championships: two College World Series titles, in 2014 and 2019; and three Southeastern Conference tournament titles, in 2015, 2016, and 2019. The Commodores have appeared in sixteen NCAA tournaments overall. They have also won fourteen regular season conference championships: eight SEC titles, four Southern Conference titles, one Big South Conference title, and one conference title as an independent.

The Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team is a collegiate baseball team that represents Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The team is a member of the Southeastern Conference and participates in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. They play their home games at Hawkins Field on the university’s campus. The Commodores are currently coached by Tim Corbin.

Vanderbilt has won five national championships: in 1957, contributing its first to the school’s first College World Series appearance; two-time champions in 1974 and 1979; and again in 1995 and 1997, winning all four championship games by a combined score of 30–13 over their opponents. Vanderbilt’s Baseball History

Vanderbilt’s first recorded baseball game took place on November 22, 1866, against Nashville. The game was won by Vanderbilt with a score of 41 to 21. Nashville had been using a rectangular field, while Vanderbilt played on a diamond-shaped one. This difference in field shape is believed to be the reason that Vanderbilt won the game.

Championships

Vanderbilt has won nine SEC Championships: in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Vanderbilt also won the 2014 SEC Tournament. The Commodores went on to win their first NCAA Regional and Super Regional Championships that same year, advancing to the College World Series for the first time in program history. The team defeated Louisville in the CWS finals to win Vanderbilt’s first baseball national championship.

Notable Players

Since Vanderbilt started playing baseball in 1886, the program has been blessed with some amazing players. These are just a few of the Commodores who have gone on to have successful Major League careers.

* pitchers Mike Minor and Sonny Gray both played for the Commodores before being drafted in the first round of the MLB draft. Minor currently plays for the Texas Rangers, while Gray is a member of the Cincinnati Reds

* catcher Jason Varitek was a three-time All-American at Vanderbilt before being drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1994. He played his entire Major League career with the Red Sox, winning two World Series titles

* first baseman Peppi Zellner was a standout player for Vanderbilt in the early 1990s. He played briefly in the Major Leagues before spending several years playing professional baseball in Japan
