Upcoming Tennis Tournaments

There are many tennis tournaments throughout the year. The four Grand Slam tournaments are the most important, and they are the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. These tournaments are played on hard courts, clay courts, and grass courts.

Wimbledon

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, and is widely considered the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts. Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australia Open, the French Open and the US Open.

French Open

The French Open is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. The others are the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. It is held at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France.

The French Open is played on a clay court. It is the only Grand Slam tournament that is not played on a hard court. The event was first held in 1891. It was open only to French players until 1925.

In 1968, the event became known as the International Tennis Championships of France. In 1978, it was renamed the French Open.

The French Open is held over two weeks in May and June. The men’s singles tournament is played from Monday to Sunday of the second week. The women’s singles tournament is played from Tuesday to Saturday of the first week.

The French Open is broadcast on TV in more than 190 countries.

US Open

The United States Open Tennis Championships is a hard court tennis tournament. The tournament is the modern version of one of the oldest tennis championships in the world, the U.S. National Championship, for which men’s singles was first played in 1881.

Held annually in August and September, the US Open is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the other three being the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the French Open. Since 1987, it has been played on acrylic hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens, New York City.
